Qualification for Winter National Championships

(Please note - There is also a full schedule of Unaffiliated Show Jumping in the 'Chill out Arena' - horses and Ponies welcome)

1st 2nd and 3rd placed horses/ponies in all Summer National Championships will qualify for the 2010
P(UK) Summer National Championships.

Results must be submitted to the Ponies (UK) office within 14 days of the qualifying show with the exception of shows being held between 1st July and 31st July; these shows need to submit their results within 48 hours after the qualifying event.

Qualification cards will not be presented in the ring.

Competitors in qualifying positions, who are not current members of P(UK) are allowed 14 days in which to become members and register their horses/ponies in order for the qualification to remain valid. The exception being any competitor qualifying at a show between 1st July and 31st July their membership must be submitted within 48 hours after the qualifying event in order for the qualification to remain valid.

2. P(UK) Confined Novice Keston Royal Occasion M&M In Hand Winter Championship
Mixed Mountain and Moorland In Hand, Colt, Filly Stallion, Mare or Gelding, Registered in the Pure Bred Section of the Breed Societies Stud Books of Dartmoor, Exmoor, Shetland, Connemara, Dales, Fells, Highland, New Forest and Welsh A, B, C, or D. 1st, 2nd & 3rd to qualify.

3. P(UK) LLanarth M&M Ridden Winter Championship
Mixed Mountain and Moorland Ridden Stallion, Mare or Gelding, 4 years old and over, registered in the Pure Bred Section of the Breed Societies Stud Books of Dartmoor, Exmoor, Shetland and Welsh Section A or B. Rider any age. 1st, 2nd & 3rd to qualify.

4. P(UK) LLanarth M&M Ridden Winter Championship
Mixed Mountain and Moorland Ridden Stallion, Mare or Gelding, 4 years old and over, registered in the Pure Bred Section of the Breed Societies Stud Books of Connemara, Dales, Fells, Highlands, New Forest and Welsh Section C & D. Rider any age. 1st, 2nd & 3rd to qualify.

5. P(UK) Confined Novice LLanarth M&M Ridden Winter Championship
Mixed Mountain and Moorland Stallion, Mare or Gelding, 4 years old and over. Registered in the Pure Bred Section of the Breed Societies Stud Books of Dartmoor, Exmoor, Shetland, Connemara, Dales, Fells, Highlands, New Forest and Welsh Sections A, B, C & D. Rider any age. NOT to have won a first prize of £10 or more in any open ridden mixed M&M classification before 1st January in the current year. 1st, 2nd & 3rd to qualify.

6. P(UK) Colne M&M Leading Rein Winter Championship
Mixed Mountain and Moorland Lead Rein Pony Mare or Gelding, 4 years old or over, not exceeding 122cms. Registered in the Pure Bred Section of the Breed Societies Stud Books of Dartmoor, Exmoor, Shetland, New Forest and Welsh section A or B. Riders not to have attained their 9th birthday before 1st January in the current year. To be led by an attendant and shown in a snaffle bridle, the lead rein to be attached to the noseband only.
1st, 2nd & 3rd to qualify.

7. P(UK) Confined Novice Colne M&M Leading Rein Winter Championship
Mixed Mountain & Moorland Lead Rein Mare or Gelding, 4 years old and over, NOT to have won a first prize of £10.00 or more in an open Mixed Mountain & Moorland Lead Rein class before 1st January in the current year. Ponies not to exceed 122cms and must be registered in the Pure Bred Section of the Breed Societies Stud Books of Dartmoor, Exmoor, Shetland, New Forest, Welsh section A or B. Riders not to have attained their 9th birthday before 1st January in the current year. To be led by an attendant and shown in a snaffle bridle, the lead rein to be attached to the noseband only. 1st, 2nd & 3rd to qualify.

Championship for 1st & 2nd from classes 1 - 7

8. P(UK) Waxwing M&M First Ridden Winter Championship
Mixed Mountain and Moorland First Ridden Pony Mare or Gelding, 4 years old and over, not exceeding 128cms, registered in the Pure Bred Section of the Breed Societies Stud Book of Dartmoor, Exmoor, Shetland, New Forest, Welsh section A or B. Any suitable bridle acceptable. Riders not to have attained their 12th birthday before 1st January in the current year. 1st, 2nd & 3rd to qualify.

9. P(UK) Confined Novice Waxwing M&M First Ridden Winter Championship
Mixed Mountain & Moorland First Ridden Pony Mare or Gelding, 4 years old and over, NOT to have won a first prize of £10.00 or more in any open Mixed Mountain & Moorland First Ridden class before 1st January in the current year. Ponies not to exceed 128cms and must be registered in the Pure Bred Section of the Breed Societies Stud Books of Dartmoor, Exmoor, Shetland, New Forest, Welsh section A or B. Riders not to have attained their 12th birthday before 1st January in the current year. Any suitable bridle acceptable.
1st, 2nd & 3rd to qualify.

10. P(UK) Bebo Junior/ Intermediate Ridden M&M Winter Championship
Open to Mountain & Moorland ponies registered in their respective Pure Breed Society Stud Books of Connemara, Dartmoor, Dales, Exmoor, Fells, Highland, New Forest, Shetland, Welsh A, B, C and D. Mare or gelding, 4 years old and over. Riders for Small Breeds not to have attained their 14th Birthday before 1st January in the current year. Riders for Large Breeds not to have attained their 25th birthday before 1st January in the current year. 1st, 2nd & 3rd to qualify.

11. P(UK) Mirage Show Hunter Pony Winter Championship
PONY OF SHOW HUNTER TYPE, Mare or Gelding, 4 years old and over not exceeding 153cms. Riders muct be the correct age for the size of pony they ride. 1st, 2nd & 3rd to qualify.

12. P(UK) Apachee Ridden Piebald/ Skewbald Horse/Pony Winter Championship
Non-Native/Native/Traditional Piebald/Skewbald, stallion, mare or gelding, 4 years old & over, any height, to be shown either plaited and trimmed or with full mane, tail and feathered or hogged and trimmed as appropriate, riders any age. 1st, 2nd & 3rd to qualify.

13. P(UK) Apachee In Hand Piebald/ Skewbald Horse/Pony Winter Championship
Piebald/Skewbald Native or Non-Native colt, filly, stallion, mare or gelding any age, any height.
1st, 2nd & 3rd to qualify.
Championship for 1st & 2nd from classes 8 - 13
Ring 2 - Working Hunter Ring - 10am start

14. P(UK) Downland Smuggler WHP Winter Championship - Fences will be adjusted for each height. Working Hunter Pony Mare or Gelding 4 years old and over, not exceeding 158cms. Riders must be the correct age for the animal they ride as stated in the current Rule Book -
133cm /14 years 143cms/17 years 153cms/20 years 158cms/25 years
1st, 2nd & 3rd to qualify.

15. P(UK) Confined Novice Downland Smuggler WH Winter Championship - Fences will be adjusted for each height.
Working Hunter Pony Mare or Gelding 4 years old and over, NOT to have won a first prize of £10.00 or more in an open WHP class before the 1st January in the current year, not exceeding 158cms. Riders must be the correct age for the animal they ride as stated in the current Rule Book
133cm /14 years 143cms/17 years 153cms/20 years 158cms/25 years
1st, 2nd & 3rd to qualify.

16. P(UK) Zenith WHP Winter Championship-

Fences adjusted to 76cm, 92cm, junior zenith
Working Hunter Horse/Pony, stallion, mare or gelding, 4 years old & over. Riders any age. These classes are designed to encourage the horse/pony and rider to perform stylishly. 1st, 2nd & 3rd to qualify.

Method of Judging:
1. Horses / Ponies will enter the ring individually and jump a course of obstacles designed to produce a maximum of 10 jumping efforts. Course Builders are recommended to avoid fences with a related distance.
1. Each jumping effort will be marked out of 10 - at the Judge's discretion.
2. There is no set penalty for a pole down or run out but three refusals will result in elimination.
3. Fall of horse or rider will result in elimination.
4. There will be no mark awarded for conformation or manners, but a mark will be awarded for overall impression at the completion of each round.
5. In the event of a tie, the overall impression mark will determine the final placings. Should there still be an equality of marks, the jumping marks will be taken into consideration - the comparison beginning with fence one and continuing thereafter until a result is achieved.

17. P(UK) Horselode M&M WHP Winter Championship
Mixed Mountain and Moorland WHP Stallion, Mare or Gelding, 4 years old and over, registered in the Pure Bred Section of the Breed Societies Stud Books of Dartmoor, Exmoor, Shetland, Connemara, Dales, Fells, Highlands, New Forest and Welsh Sections A, B, C & D. Rider any age. 1st, 2nd & 3rd to qualify.
Class divided into:
o Not exceeding 122 cms
o Exceeding 122 cms but not exceeding 138 cms
o Exceeding 138 cms

FENCES to be adjusted for each section.

18. P(UK) Confined Novice Horselode M&M Winter Championship
Confined Novice Mixed Mountain and Moorland WHP Stallion, Mare or Gelding, 4 years and over Registered in the Pure Breed Section of the Societies Stud Books of Dartmoor, Exmoor, Shetland, Connemara, Highland, Dales, Fells, Highland, New Forest, Welsh Sections A, B, C & D. NOT to have won a first prize of £10 or more in any open mixed M&M WHP classification before 1st January in the current year. Rider any age. Height of fences to be according to the Confined Novice WHP Rules as listed in the Ponies Association (UK) 2009 Rule Book.
1st, 2nd & 3rd to qualify.
Class divided into:
o Not exceeding 122 cms
o Exceeding 122 cms but not exceeding 138 cms
o Exceeding 138 cms
FENCES to be adjusted for each section.
